We’re asking for your support for our 2021 fundraising drive.
If you donate or subscribe to Solidarity magazine by 28 November, you will go in the draw to win one of fantastic leftie prizes below.
The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the reality of inequality and racism. Multicultural communities and working class people have seen disproportionate deaths and infections, with frontline essential workers still forced to leave home for work. Western Sydney faced months of discriminatory lockdown measures and punitive policing.
Over the last year Solidarity has played an important role in standing up for the right to protest and building resistance, through the Black Lives Matter and Indigenous rights protests to opposing refugee detention, climate justice demonstrations and campaigning for income support during lockdown.
We have been at the centre of the refugee rights movement, fighting for freedom and safety from COVID for refugees still detained in the Park hotel prison after eight years. We have campaigned against Morrison’s appalling “gas-led recovery” and the expansion of fossil fuels including the $600 million of government money for a new gas plant at Kurri Kurri. When Sydney’s lockdown began we organised to demand proper income support for workers stood down at the Annette Kellerman pool and elsewhere. And we were part of the campaign that saved the Studies in Religion and Theatre and Performance Studies departments in the Sydney Uni Arts faculty.
Solidarity works hard to build struggles like these, week-in, week-out - fanning the flames of resistance wherever we find them!
But all of these fights require resources; printing, office space, upgrades to computer equipment, and so on… Over the last year of our usual fundraising methods, like film screenings, trivia nights and conferences, have again been difficult, so we’re asking our friends and supporters to donate to our organisation.
Solidarity also produces a monthly magazine, covering national and international politics from a socialist perspective.
